- I am lucky enough to leave on the coast. I grew up near the water and had to return. I love it...marsh, waves, wind, water, saltwater, you name it. If you've ever gotten up REALLY early to head offshore, then you sleep on the trip out and wake before sunrise. The water out on the gulfstream is breathtaking. In South Carolina, the marsh creates very nutrient rich coastal water, so miles and miles out the water is clear blue and gorgeous. Watching the reflection of sun on the water is serene, dazzling and looks like God welcoming you to another day.
